Test Architect & Automation Strategist

The company name is the question I ask on every engagement — and the honest answer is sometimes "it shouldn't be". I help organizations automate the testing that pays off, explore the risks that machines can't, and build test frameworks that outlive my contract. More than a decade across banking, healthcare, gaming and the public sector.

How I Work

Four principles that shape every engagement — you should know what you're getting

Ask the naive question

The fastest way to understand a system is the courage to expose your own ignorance. I ask the questions everyone else in the room is quietly wondering about.

Let risk decide

Not everything should be automated. I prioritize by risk and test what the system does — not how it's built — so automation pays off instead of piling up.

Build to outlive the contract

My proudest deliverables are test frameworks and living documentation that clients still run years after I've left. That's the standard I build to.

Grow the team, not the dependency

I coach the way I was trained to guide groups outdoors: set a safe frame, hand over real responsibility, and step back as the team takes ownership of quality.

What I Offer

Four ways to raise the quality of your software — and of the team building it

Test Automation

Architecture and hands-on automation with Playwright, WebdriverIO and TypeScript — on top of a decade of Selenium WebDriver, C# and Java

AI-Assisted Testing

Pragmatic use of LLMs and agentic tools in the test process — automated checks verify the known; testers explore the unknown

Technical Testing

Exploratory testing, integration testing and API Testing across REST and SOAP services — finding what the happy path hides

Team Development

Test coaching and targeted work on how your team collaborates — not another feel-good team-building day. Backed by formal training in group facilitation

Why "Is It Automated"?

Is It Automated has been my one-person consultancy since 2016. The name is the question I bring to every engagement — and it deliberately has more than one good answer. Sometimes the fix is better automation. Sometimes it's realizing that a machine can only check what you already know, while a person can explore what you don't.

I stay a one-person company on purpose: from the first conversation to the final handover, you work with the same senior consultant. And the goal of every handover is the same — leave behind automation, documentation and a team that no longer need me.
